Bartlett Bid Management – Case Study

Bartlett Bid Management (BBM) supports contracting companies across the UK in securing tenders within the nuclear sector. With experience spanning Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and major infrastructure programmes, BBM brings strategic insight and hands-on delivery to complex bidding processes.

Securing a Decade of Nuclear Delivery – In 2024, BBM led the successful bid for a Nuclear Minor Civils Framework on behalf of a MEICA/Civils contractor (client under NDA). The framework represented a critical opportunity, securing ten years of work, sustaining jobs, and supporting the development of highly skilled teams within the UK nuclear workforce.

Curtis Bartlett, BBM’s lead consultant, managed a multi-company bid team across a ten-week period, coordinating three bid writers, subject matter experts, and client stakeholders. The project involved over 73,000 words of technical and strategic content, spanning seven detailed sections including:

  • Technical delivery
  • Supply chain capability
  • Collaboration and interfaces
  • Innovation and productivity
  • Industrial relations
  • Health, safety, environment, and quality
  • Commercial strategy

BBM deployed its bespoke Bid Tracker and 5-Step Bid Management Plan to ensure clarity, accountability, and progress across all contributors. Daily and twice-weekly meetings via Microsoft Teams kept the process agile and collaborative, while meticulous editing and review cycles ensured every submission met the highest standards.

Impact and Recognition – The bid was submitted ahead of deadline and, in October 2024, the client was confirmed as a successful framework partner. The result secured a decade of delivery for the business and reinforced the South West’s contribution to national infrastructure and clean energy goals. BBM’s collaborative approach earned the trust of senior management and strengthened relationships across the bid team, demonstrating how strategic planning and sector knowledge can unlock long-term opportunity.

Looking Ahead – Building on this success, BBM is expanding its footprint in the nuclear sector. With over £600 million in tenders won across AMP6, AMP7, and AMP8 frameworks in the regulated water sector, the company is now offering tailored workshops in Bid Writing, Bid Management, and Sales Strategy, including sessions designed specifically for nuclear contractors.
