Partner event: SBRI: protecting nuclear decommissioning operators

Sellafield Ltd will invest up to £850,000 excluding VAT in innovative projects that will better equip and support nuclear decommissioning operators working in hazardous environments.

The aim of this competition is to enable operators to carry out tasks safer, quicker and cheaper while being more comfortable in their working environment. This is a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition.

Somerset Chamber Event: Cyber Security Essentials

The risk to business from the so called "Cyber Threat" is increasing exponentially and those companies who wish to work within government supply chain must demonstrate that their approach to Cyber Security is comprehensive and taken seriously. This event will present on the government IT security standard, Cyber Essentials, along with practical advice and an example of how today's cyber threats occur and may affect you.

If you are already working or looking to work in any form of Government supply chain; or if you are a conscientious business owner who feels at risk, this is the event for you.

Event speakers: 

  • Avon and Somerset Constabulary - With electronic crime being at an all-time high, the police are working extensively to assist business to be aware of the risks posed to them and to hunt down the perpetrators. An update will be provided of the most common methods of fraud currently in circulation.
  • SecureArm - SecureArm are a provider of Cyber Essentials consultancy. They assist companies to achieve the government standard. During this briefing, an anatomy of current threats will be played out with advice as to how to reduce the risk of infection from them.
  • Securious - Securious are a certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme along with other IT security standards. They will provide an update on the current requirements of the standard and how this will protect your company.

The South West – Powering the UK’s Nuclear Future

This invite-only parliamentary event in the House of Commons, will be hosted by Ian Liddell-Grainger MP, in whose constituency Hinkley Point C is located. It will bring together parliamentarians, stakeholders and members of the south west’s nuclear industry. We will be showcasing the south west’s huge potential to lead the UK’s nuclear industry and national energy infrastructure challenge.
